Diane Jones
Growing up on a farm and having a textile trained art teacher at school were both formative influences on my development as a Textile Artist / Designer. Learning many aspects of textile design and manipulation at degree level, I have continued to work for many years using a combination of hand painting and printing techniques, predominantly using velvet as my ‘canvas’ to produce scarves and accessories which are sold throughout the country in museums, galleries and craft outlets. I use the recurring themes of colour, pattern, light, rhythms and silhouettes of our natural environment and enjoy the layering and depth that experimenting with devoré (etched) velvet can demonstrate.
