John Allcock
John Allcock retired from a university career in 2001, to paint. Subsequently, he has exhibited widely, especially in the north of England but also on four occasions in the Pastel Society. Most of his work could be classed as “landscape” – rarely “views”, but more typically “portraits” of natural objects. Additionally, he has completed four series of reflective studies, responding to T.S. Eliot’s Four Quartets, to Italian experience during the Great War, to the Christian tradition of hermitage, and to images of the “Green Man”. He works mainly in pastels and acrylic paint.
